Dalhousie forges new relationships in Israel
On October 23, Dalhousie Vice-President, Research, Martha Crago, was in Israel to sign an MOU with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, strengthening the commitment to explore international research collaboration.

Martha Crago, vice-president, research at Dalhousie, is in Israel as part of a seven-day trade and investment mission to Israel led by Premier Darrell Dexter. She is travelling with other members of Dalhousie's research team and officials from Nova Scotia Business Inc., the Halifax Port Authority and the Brain Repair Centre.
The memorandum of understanding between Dalhousie and Hebrew University outlines some objectives of merging both universities resources for the purpose of academic and research interactions and will establish joint research opportunities in the areas of medical research, oceanography and water and waste management. Additionally, the relationship will support travel by faculty members and post-doctoral students as well as the sharing of best practices in technology transfer and industry engagement.
While in Israel, the Nova Scotia delegation is focused on establishing relationships and exploring opportunities that will bring similar development and expertise to Nova Scotia. The group has also met with researchers, academics and administrators from Birzeit University in the West Bank, and will be meeting with officials from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel later this week. The trade mission continues until Thursday, Oct. 27.
