Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life make their largest-ever donation in Atlantic Canada to Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick is half a million dollars closer to its goal thanks to a donation from the corporate citizenship program of Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life for Bold Ambitions: The Campaign for Dalhousie. This is the companies’ largest-ever contribution in Atlantic Canada.

Key Points:

  • Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick's $15 million Medical Research Campaign received a half million dollars from Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life through the companies' corporate citizenship program. This is the largest contribution Great-West Life and its subsidiaries have made in Atlantic Canada to date.

  • The $500,000 donation will be used to fund a full-time education specialist in occupational medicine and a part-time research associate to support Dalhousie Medical School's New Brunswick-based chair in occupational medicine.

  • The education specialist will develop curriculum for learners in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as practising physicians. This position will translate research and best practices in the area of occupational medicine into educational materials and programs for the workplace.

  • The research chair in occupational medicine will promote training, research, and development in workplace risk management and occupational medicine. Emphasis will be on workplace health and safety, and accident prevention. The chair will provide knowledge and advice for employers and physicians across New Brunswick.
